Ahsaki Benion is a senior attorney whose practice focuses on tax-exempt organizations, nonprofit governance, and general corporate compliance. Ahsaki joined IEEE in January 2024 as Deputy General Counsel with a focus on the activities of IEEE Standards Association. She has advised on tax, corporate, and governance matters across IEEE.

Prior to joining IEEE, Ahsaki served as the Deputy General Counsel of Arabella Advisors LLC, where she provided guidance on complex nonprofit tax, regulatory, and governance matters. Ahsaki was also Counsel in the Tax-Exempt Organizations group at the law firm of Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP, where she represented and advised public charities, private foundations, trade and professional associations, religious organizations, educational organizations, arts organizations, and other nonprofits. Ahsaki served as the Deputy General Counsel at The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), one of the nation’s largest public charities. She began her career as a mergers and acquisitions attorney at the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison LLP in New York City.

Ahsaki earned her bachelor’s degree from Amherst College, MA, USA, and is a graduate of Yale Law School, CT, USA. She is a member of the New York State and Washington, DC, bars.
