IEEE Awards & Recognition
Our awards and honors celebrate outstanding contributions to technology, society, and the engineering profession.
For over a century, IEEE Awards have brought the engineering community together to recognize leaders and visionaries navigating the road of discovery in remarkable ways. IEEE Medals, Recognitions, and Technical Field Awards set a standard of excellence and inspire the work to drive progress forward for the benefit of humanity.

Meet the 2025 Medal of Honor Laureate: Henry Samueli
IEEE Fellow Henry Samueli received the 2025 Medal of Honor for pioneering research and commercialization of broadband communication and networking technologies, and promotion of STEM education.

“There are so many important technical contributors in our engineering community that being able to play a part in recognizing some of them is very satisfying. The IEEE Awards program provides the key structure for acknowledging our outstanding colleagues.”
Recognizing Leaders and Visionaries
IEEE grants three levels of awards honoring engineering and technology triumphs. Awards enhance the reputations of our members and organization and bring attention to the global services provided across IEEE’s technical fields of interest.
IEEE presents 22 Medals in a range of fields and accomplishments. The IEEE Medal of Honor is our highest award.
IEEE Recognitions include lifelong Honorary Membership, and distinctions for young professionals and corporate innovation.
IEEE Technical Field Awards highlight key successes in areas like biomedical engineering, internet, robotics, and more.
Some IEEE award recipients have also received recognition through elevation to IEEE’s highest member grade: IEEE Fellow.

Our annual Vision, Innovation, and Challenges (VIC) Summit and Honors Ceremony Gala brings together the most talked-about names in engineering and technology.
